2018 Native Youth Media and Tech Workshops

May 9 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

In 2018, we partnered with numerous tribes, organizations and networks to provide several media workshops throughout the year. We were excited to welcome new partners and grow our relationship with ongoing programs.

In June, our first stop was Seven Generations at United American Indian Involvement, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA. The youth produced films, documentaries and took a tour of Sony Pictures. Check them out here!

In July, we worked with the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe in Colorado and Utah. Youth participants created films about their veterans, their regalia and cultural awareness. Check out stills from the Towaoc reservation production in Colorado here! Check out stills from the White Mesa production in Utah here!

In August, we partnered with the Paramount Network and the Wellpinit High School on the Spokane Indian Reservation. Several films were produced that showcased the youth’s incredible filmmaking abilities. You can see images from the productions here!

Also in August, we worked with the Mohegan Tribe in Connecticut. Native youth created several narrative shorts and a documentary about their tribal heritage. Learn more about their experience here!

In September, we travelled to Northern California and partnered with the United American Indian Health Services, Inc. The youth created PSA’s about healthy living with new technology. Check out their productions here!

We wrapped 2018 with the Native Youth Multimedia Weekend at the 12th Annual LA SKINS FEST! See their events here!
