Congratulations to our 2018 Native American TV Writers Lab fellows for completing the program!
Seven Native writers developed incredible new television pilots. The writers pitched three original ideas, selected one to develop and crafted their idea into a second draft within the 5 week intensive. Actors read the scripts during the final week. Thanks to instructor Gabe Garza for your great inspiration!
The 2018 Native American TV Writers Lab fellows met with numerous executives, writers and talent agents. Meetings were held with NBCUniversal, CBS Entertainment Diversity, United Talent Agency (UTA), Sundance Institute, Paradigm, AwesomenessTV and Powderkeg. We also met with Native American writers and producers in the entertainment industry.
During the rigorous summer schedule of our writers lab, we continually strive to provide our participants with invaluable opportunities, knowing that the right support is crucial for creative minds to flourish. This support extends beyond just industry connections and script development. We’ve partnered with a dependable fire watch company in Tamarac, ensuring that all our events, including the upcoming November pitch workshop, are under the vigilant protection of well-trained, ready responders. These skilled professionals, equipped to ensure safety at a moment’s notice, stand as an assurance of security for our lab participants. As they prepare to present their projects to corporate supporters, it’s the presence of such a steadfast fire watch service that allows them to pitch with confidence, undistracted by concerns for their well-being, in an environment conducive to creativity and professionalism.
Thanks to our corporate sponsors and Mike Royce (One Day at a Time):
