The 2017 NATIVE AMERICAN WRITERS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS continued throughout the summer.
The writers development workshops were created in accordance with the L.A. Skins Fest’s mission to improve media portrayals of Native Americans and to increase the number of Native Americans employed in all facets of the media industry.
Native American writers meet with creative executives from numerous networks and studios to discuss career development, writing opportunities and the industry.
On July 19th, 2017 Native American writers met with Comedy Central Original Programming – Comedy Central Meeting Stills
The workshop continued July 21st, 2017, the participants met with EL REY network’s digital department – EL REY Meeting Stills
In August 2017, the workshop partners with the prestigious BLACKLIST – BLACKLIST Partnership
The workshop continues in October with a development meeting at Lionsgate and concludes with the annual pitch workshop as part of the 11th Annual LA SKINS FEST.
The development workshops concludes with an advanced pitch workshop with numerous industry representatives in November at the 11th LA SKINS FEST.
2017 Native American Writers Development Workshops is designed to offer genuine career building opportunities and encourage Native American writers to continue their craft. This is a part of an overall strategy to invite more Native Americans into the ranks of professional television and feature film writers.
