August 21, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

On July 21st, alumni from the Native American TV Writers Lab and Monthly Writers group met with EL REY Network’s Digital Department. They discussed EL REY’s brand, pitching to the network, and their digital opportunities. Great thanks to EL REY NETWORK for speaking with the group.

EL REY MEETING - NATIVE WRITERS WORKSHOP

The meeting was designed to give Native American writers information that will grow their careers, access to talent development, and the capacity to pitch to creative executives. Meeting focused on the industry’s needs and how Native artists fit into the entertainment landscape.

The 2017 NATIVE AMERICAN WRITERS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS continued throughout the summer. The writers development workshops were created in accordance with the L.A. Skins Fest’s mission to improve media portrayals of Native Americans and to increase the number of Native Ameri cans employed in all facets of the media industry.

If you are interested in participating or would like more information in how to participate, please e-mail us: contact@laskinsfest.com

Special thanks to Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell for hosting the group. The NATIVE AMERICAN WRITERS LAB prepares Native Americans for writing careers at major television networks. This program is designed to address the lack of Native American writers in primetime network TV. The 2018 Native American Writers Lab announcement will be available in November.
