The LA SKINS FEST is a Native American film festival that offers career development and professional opportunities. Since 2012, we have offered a monthly writers group for Native Americans. This is a literary gathering that takes place monthly to encourage the development of Native writers for television and film.
Every month, we invite two Native American writers to hone scripts for a table read with Native American actors. This initiative provides an opportunity for Native writers to hear their scripts read, receive constructive feedback, and network with other Native American actors and writers.
The Writers Group has worked with over eighty original Native American scripts, invited over a hundred Native American actors to read, and have had several creative executives participate to offer constructive criticism. They gave valuable feedback to our writers and provided genuine encouragement to continue their craft.
The overall goal of this program is to encourage Native Americans to explore television and film writing careers. To participate, have a script read, or attend please email us at [email protected].
