SUMMARY:8th ANNUAL NATIVE AMERICAN TV WRITERS LAB ANNOUNCES SELECTED FELLOWS
DESCRIPTION:The Native American Media Alliance continues the wildly successful Native American TV Writers Lab. This initiative has supported dozens of indigenous television writers go on to staff\, sell their own series and find representation. This year’s lab is in partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal\, US Bank\, One Small Planet\, A+E Networks\, Cherokee Nation Film Office\, Threshold and Snowpants Productions. \n“The industry has only scratched the surface of the many incredible stories and inspiring storytellers from our community.” Announced Ian Skorodin\, Director of Strategy for the Native American Media Alliance. “We are extremely proud of the dozens of Native writers who have proven that our community has the talent necessary to make change in the industry.” \nEntering its eighth year\, the Native American TV Writers Lab is an intensive TV scriptwriters workshop that has supported dozens of Native American writers for current and developing television series. Selected fellows take part in an eight-week curriculum curated by seasoned writing professionals. The lab consists of daily workshops\, seminars and one-on-one mentoring to help each writer develop and complete a new pilot and hone skills to prepare the writers to move into staff writing positions. This year’s lab is instructed by writer Cari Daly. \nThe NATIVE AMERICAN TV WRITERS LAB was created to expand the amount of Native Americans working behind the camera\, as a way to increase fair and accurate portrayals of Native Americans on television. According to every industry report from the WGA West\, Nielsen and others\, the Native American and indigenous population represent a dismal number within the industry. \nThe 8th Annual NATIVE AMERICAN TV WRITERS LAB fellows: \nKendall Davis (Choctaw) \nGina East (Pueblo) \nJames William Evans (Cherokee) \nMeera Divecha Forespring (Cowlitz) \nMichelle Hernandez (Wiyot) \nSloane Leong (Hawaiian) \nSimon Luedtke (Potawatomi) \nMaddox Pennington (Cherokee) \nStefan Perez (Coast Miwok) \nAhyoka Saas (Cherokee) \nRylan Tuohy (Wyandotte) \nDavid Zuckerman (Pueblo) \nAt the end of the program\, each participant will have completed an original television script and will take part in our annual pitch fest at the 17th Annual LA SKINS FEST. \nSponsors: \n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n View Image\n \n Netflix\n \n \n \n \n \n View Image\n \n Comcast NBCUniversal\n \n \n \n \n \n View Image\n \n A+E Networks\n \n \n \n \n \n View Image\n \n \n \n \n View Image\n \n Cherokee Nation Film Office\n \n \n \n \n \n View Image\n \n \n \n \n View Image\n \n \n \n \n View Image\n \n Snowpants Productions\n \n \n	\n\n\n
