SUMMARY:Song Bird
DESCRIPTION:Song Bird follows a young\, mixed-Choctaw woman named Taloa. She lost her grandmother almost a year before the story takes place and is struggling to figure out a future for herself while actively isolating from family. While closing at the coffee shop she works at\, a strange man comes in\, asking her personal questions and speaking Chahta Anumpa (the Choctaw language). He disappears\, but Taloa thinks about his words as she keeps being reminded of her grandmother. When she falls asleep that night\, she meets the strange man again in her dream. She learns that he is the Alligator spirit from a traditional Choctaw story\, and that he knew her grandmother. The two have a hard\, but needed\, conversation. When Taloa wakes up in the morning\, she feels hopeful again\, leading her to reach out to family.
