SUMMARY:AUGUST NATIVE WRITERS GROUP
DESCRIPTION:Now entering its sixth year and based on the great success of the Native Writers Workshop\, we created the NATIVE WRITERS GROUP. This is a literary gathering that takes place monthly to encourage the development of Native writers. \nThis year\, we are expanding our monthly meeting from January to December and are meeting at studio facilities throughout Los Angeles.  This initiative provides an opportunity for Native writers to hear their scripts read\, receive  constructive feedback\, and participate in pitch opportunities to creative executives. \nSince April of 2012\, we have worked with over a hundred original Native American scripts\, invited over eighty Native American actors to read\, and have had several creative executives participate from NBC\, FOX\, and DISNEY. They gave valuable feedback to our writers and provided genuine encouragement to continue their craft. \nThis month’s writers group features JUSTIN NEAL and 2017 Native American TV Writers Lab Alumni MYRONE SUMNER. \nSpecial thanks to CBS Entertainment Diversity for supporting Native American writers! \n\nFor more information or to participate please email contact@laskinsfest.com.
