SUMMARY:6th Annual Native American Unscripted Workshop Call For Applications
DESCRIPTION:The 6th Annual Native American Unscripted Workshop is now accepting applications. This professional development program is dedicated to supporting Native American documentary filmmakers\, unscripted storytellers\, and nonfiction content creators as they develop compelling stories that reflect the authentic voices and experiences of Indigenous communities. \nPresented with support from Comcast NBCUniversal\, Sony Pictures Entertainment\, and Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture\, the workshop provides emerging and established Native filmmakers with the opportunity to refine their projects through mentorship\, industry guidance\, and professional development. Participants will engage with experienced documentary filmmakers\, producers\, and media professionals while exploring strategies for project development\, funding\, pitching\, production\, and distribution. \nThe Native American Unscripted Workshop is designed to strengthen Indigenous storytelling by helping participants advance current and future nonfiction film and television projects while building lasting connections within the Native filmmaking community and the broader entertainment industry. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nThe workshop is a virtual week-long creative program that provides access to creative executives\, experienced producers and veteran documentary filmmakers. In its fourth year\, the Native American Unscripted Workshop will accept Native American content creators in the unscripted space to participate in the program taking place in late October\, 2026. The Early Deadline to apply is July 27th\, 2026 (Regular Deadline is August 17th\, 2026 and the Final Deadline is September 7th\, 2026). \nThe Native American Unscripted Workshop is designed to encourage Native American filmmakers to expand on their current opportunities. These meetings will provide additional insight into professional development\, exploring career opportunities and developing a project for pitching. \nThe workshop will culminate with each participant pitching before a panel of unscripted creative executives. This final component will have each participant receive feedback and guidance on their current unscripted or documentary project. Each workshop participant will have the opportunity to discuss creative development\, enhance their respective materials and improve their project sample. The goal of the pitch panel is to provide Native American filmmakers with additional opportunities and exposure. \n___________________________________________________________________________ \n\n\nApplication Process\nApplication available at this link! \nHow it Works: \nIf accepted into the workshop you must be willing to make a commitment to a multi-day program that will entail day and evening virtual meetings. \nWho Should Apply: \nThe Native American Unscripted Workshop is for emerging and seasoned indigenous filmmakers\, journalists and producers who have a vested interest in advancing their careers in the unscripted\, non-fiction and documentary field. The Native American Unscripted Workshop is for indigenous filmmakers who have an unscripted or documentary film (short or feature)\, documentary or unscripted series script\, documentary or unscripted treatment or a bible for an unscripted television series. Each selected participant must be capable of developing their materials according to the guidance provided in the workshop and offer their material as a salable property. \nWhen to Apply: \nThe submission period for the 5th Annual Native American Unscripted Workshop is now open.
