SUMMARY:2013 Native Youth Media and Tech Workshops
DESCRIPTION:In 2013\, the Native Youth Media and Tech Workshop collaborated with United National Indian Tribal Youth. We worked with several Native youth from around the country to provide a film workshop. Participants worked with film equipment to produce a short piece about their annual youth conference: \n \nIn October\, we travelled to the Colorado River Indian Tribes in Parker\, AZ and worked with youth from Hopi\, Navajo\, Chemehuevi and Mohave nations. The youth produced educational pieces about health and their creation myths. They presented them at the tribally owned Blue Water Cinemas: \n\nIn November\, we hosted several youth from Sherman Indian High School at our LA SKINS FEST Media Weekend Workshop. Native youth shot a short film at Regal Cinemas in downtown Los Angeles with guidance from Native filmmakers: \n \nThe Native Youth Media Tour from United American Indian Involvement visited a Los Angeles based podcast studio. They watched a podcast get produced\, toured the studio and met with podcast hosts. Great to introduce Native youth to new tech:
