SUMMARY:11th Annual Native American TV Writers Lab Fellows Selected
DESCRIPTION:The Native American Media Alliance is excited to announce the seven selected fellows for the 11th Annual Native American TV Writers Lab. This year’s TV Lab is in partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal\, Weingart Foundation\, Los Angels County Arts & Culture and the Department of Cultural Affairs City of Los Angeles. \n“As we celebrate more than a decade of this program\, these fellows represent the cutting edge of Indigenous storytelling—bringing fresh\, authentic\, and sophisticated narratives.” Announced Patricia Gomes\, Executive Director. “By providing a genuine access and high-level creative mentorship\, we are ensuring that Native voices are leading the conversations that shape our cultural future.” \nFounded in 2016\, the Native American TV Writers Lab is an intensive TV scriptwriters workshop that has developed dozens of writers for current television series. Selected fellows take part in a seven-week curriculum curated by seasoned writing professionals. The lab consists of daily workshops\, seminars\, and one-on-one mentoring to help each writer develop and complete a pilot in seven weeks and hone skills to prepare the writers to move into staff writing positions. \nThe Native American TV Writers Lab was created to expand the amount of Native Americans working behind the camera as a way to increase fair and accurate portrayals of Native Americans on television. According to the 2025 WGAW Inclusion and Equity Report\, Native American writers currently represent approximately 1% of all working television writers. This figure has remained relatively stagnant despite the high-profile success of Indigenous-led series. \nThis lab is part of the Native American Media Alliance’s overall mission to provide genuine solutions to systemic challenges in the entertainment industry. \nThe 11th Annual NATIVE AMERICAN TV WRITERS LAB fellows: \nRachel Baldwin \nRipley Barnes \nSonny Brava \nC.J.
